The solo exhibition Continuo Movimento introduces the Polish artist Maria Lepkowska to the Cassino public. Born in Warsaw, she moved to Italy in 1994, where she continued her academic studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Frosinone. Her artistic research focuses on the interconnection of different forms of expression, including painting, dance, action painting, sculpture and video art. Through these media she creates universes in constant and ephemeral transformation, much like human existence itself. At the artist’s express wish, the exhibition will take place in Cassino, a town historically and emotionally linked to Poland by the difficult events of the Second World War. The choice of location also reflects her affinity with other local realities in the province of Frosinone, where she has previously exhibited (Alatri, Fossanova).

Maria Lepkowska, who has been active on the Italian and international art scene for years, with exhibitions in Naples, Rome, Milan, Turin, Genoa, United Kingdom and Spain, will present a selection of works from different periods for her solo exhibition at the Avanguardie Artistiche Gallery in Cassino. The exhibition will include paintings on canvas as well as more recent multi-material installations made of rope, jute and wood. The choice of this gallery as the venue for the exhibition highlights the synergy between Lepkowska’s artistic vision and the curatorial direction of the Avanguardie Artistiche group, which has been active in the region for many years. The curatorial approach of the gallery’s directors, Luigi D’Agostino, Cristiano Tomassi and Antonio Evangelista, is particularly focused on the promotion of a wide range of artistic expressions, with an interest in both emerging figures in the contemporary art world and the promotion of established Italian artists, such as Mario Schifano, whose works are permanently exhibited in the gallery.

Continuo Movimento is intended to be an opportunity, a moment of shared interest in artistic reflection, explored through various forms of inquiry into reality. The artist offers the public not only her personal reinterpretation of reality, expressed through various means of expression, but also a point of reflection – an invitation to recognize the multitude of possible paths hidden within our human existence. Fragile, often flawed and lonely, this existence nevertheless holds the promise of a possible path to salvation and redemption.

For the Cassino solo exhibition, at the artist’s express request, two specially commissioned works will be created as part of a diptych. The works will focus on the theme of the town of Cassino and its links with Poland. These works will be permanently donated to the Municipality of Cassino and the Avanguardie Artistiche Gallery on the occasion of the opening. The Institutional Greetings will be delivered by Dr. Enzo Salera, Mayor of the City of Cassino, and Prof. Gabriella Vacca, Councillor for Culture of Cassino.
